Jump Rope for Heart -Allie Minick

My friend’s daughter,Allie ,is participating in Jump Rope for Heart for the American Heart Association. I brought her to the office last Wednesday and she raised $737 in one day here. She was so excited but stopped by to see several and discovered many were out on Spring Break. If you would like to sponsor her in her upcoming Jump Rope for Heart, you may do so by writing me a check payable to the American Heart Association—if you do at least $25, you can do the matching gift as well (please give me a copy of the matching gift printout with the check). Of course any size donation counts towards her $1000 goal. She is currently at $817.

Hi! This is Allie— I’m so excited to be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year! It’s really fun and it’s for a wonderful cause that I think everyone should support.

I’m learning fun new ways to protect my heart – and how to help keep everyone’s heart healthy!

I’m raising money for the American Heart Association so that they can help kids who are born with heart problems survive. They also help keep kids like me active, so that as I grow older, my heart stays healthy!

I would love your support in reaching my goal. Would you please make a donation to my Jump Rope for Heart page, and also pledge to make a heart healthy choice this week! My heart healthy choice has been to give up sugary drinks. So far, my mom says that I’m doing pretty good with my choices.

I would appreciate any support you can give. If you would like to donate online, please go to the page my mom set up for me: http://jump.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1163060&supid=445194128&msource=bfIphSmsPfDonor

Modern Romance: An Investigation

The #1 New York Times Bestseller

A hilarious, thoughtful, and in-depth exploration of the pleasures and perils of modern romance from one of this generation’s sharpest comedic voices

At some point, every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it’s wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?

Some of our problems are unique to our time. “Why did this guy just text me an emoji of a pizza?” “Should I go out with this girl even though she listed Combos as one of her favorite snack foods? Combos?!” “My girlfriend just got a message from some dude named Nathan. Who’s Nathan? Did he just send her a photo of his penis? Should I check just to be sure?”

But the transformation of our romantic lives can’t be explained by technology alone. In a short period of time, the whole culture of finding love has changed dramatically. A few decades ago, people would find a decent person who lived in their neighborhood. Their families would meet and, after deciding neither party seemed like a murderer, they would get married and soon have a kid, all by the time they were twenty-four. Today, people marry later than ever and spend years of their lives on a quest to find the perfect person, a soul mate.

For years, Aziz Ansari has been aiming his comic insight at modern romance, but for Modern Romance, the book, he decided he needed to take things to another level. He teamed up with NYU sociologist Eric Klinenberg and designed a massive research project, including hundreds of interviews and focus groups conducted everywhere from Tokyo to Buenos Aires to Wichita. They analyzed behavioral data and surveys and created their own online research forum on Reddit, which drew thousands of messages. They enlisted the world’s leading social scientists, including Andrew Cherlin, Eli Finkel, Helen Fisher, Sheena Iyengar, Barry Schwartz, Sherry Turkle, and Robb Willer. The result is unlike any social science or humor book we’ve seen before.

In Modern Romance, Ansari combines his irreverent humor with cutting-edge social science to give us an unforgettable tour of our new romantic world.

The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing

After too many years of unfulfilling work, Bronnie Ware began searching for a job with heart. Despite having no formal qualifications or experience, she found herself working in palliative care.

Over the years she spent tending to the needs of those who were dying, Bronnie’s life was transformed. Later, she wrote an Internet blog about the most common regrets expressed to her by the people she had cared for. The article, also called The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, gained so much momentum that it was read by more than three million people around the globe in its first year. At the requests of many, Bronnie now shares her own personal story.

Bronnie has had a colourful and diverse past, but by applying the lessons of those nearing their death to her own life, she developed an understanding that it is possible for people, if they make the right choices, to die with peace of mind. In this book, she expresses in a heartfelt retelling how significant these regrets are and how we can positively address these issues while we still have the time.

The Top Five Regrets of the Dying gives hope for a better world. It is a story told through sharing her inspiring and honest journey, which will leave you feeling kinder towards yourself and others, and more determined to live the life you are truly here to live. This delightful memoir is a courageous, life-changing book.
